  • Get ready for April 1 at the First Church of the Last Laugh.

    Update:

To go along with the April Fool's theme (and so I won't have wasted two entries on a single link each), here's a quiz from the Freedom From Religion Foundation. How much do you know about the First Amendment?

  • Oh, we wouldn't want to waste a blog, would we? *chuckle*

Great link. I scored a passing grade. Barely.

  • Ngh, I'm conflicted. I fully approve of separation of church and state (otherwise you wind up with a corrupt church and a tyrannical state), but I dislike anti-religious bigots like ffrf just as much as any other bigot. Their actions are fully in support of the constitution, but I get the feeling that if push came to shove they'd be less concerned with "the free exercise thereof" than they are with preventing establishment. Or maybe it's just that I don't feel fondly of anyone who knows nothing about my beliefs but still holds me in contempt for possessing them. I don't know.

  • Preventing establishment is the same thing as promoting the free exercise thereof.

All I know about FFRF is this quiz. If they're bigots, it's not apparent from the quiz.

  • Not necessarily. The name says it all, really. If you look in their manifesto, their opinion is that religion as an idea is detrimental to society. Given the VAST range of religious practices and beliefs in this world, that's not a sensible opinion to hold.
