Read this.
Yes, it’s William Safire.
A taste:
If the Homeland Security Act is not amended before passage, here is what will happen to you:
Every purchase you make with a credit card, every magazine subscription you buy and medical prescription you fill, every Web site you visit and e-mail you send or receive, every academic grade you receive, every bank deposit you make, every trip you book and every event you attend — all these transactions and communications will go into what the Defense Department describes as “a virtual, centralized grand database.”"

It’s one big mook fest. Now they’ll know that I only use Trojan Latex ribbed!!!!!!
Not funny. This is the sort of issue that starts violent revolutions. Safire, a conservative in the best sense of the word, and Charlton “from my cold dead hand” Heston are right.
Whoa, I feel sick. I sure hope Canada doesn’t start thinking this way.
May solar flares and magnetic fluctuations plague their pig-dog databases.
yeah totally freaking out here.
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek.
Give me one good reason why I should just CHECK OUT now?
Sheeesh.
How can the gov do that? My stomach hurts.
Those Eurasian bastards don’t know who they’re messin with!!
The following is my editorial reply to Mr. Safire;
“Mr. Safire: You neglected to mention one glaring omission that the Homeland Security Act wouldn’t require of its unsuspecting citizens. I found it interesting, but not surprising, that the same demagogues who want to snoop into every aspect of our private lives would find it a violation of some basic rights to know who owns handguns or even check on the background of those interested in purchasing such lethal weapons. Did I miss something or are Shakespear, Emerson and Lawrence more deadly to the head than a bullet? Perhaps we should all reacquaint ourselves with a little novel by William Bligh!”

Increasingly, government is using the large American tax base to finance and force ridiculously Machiavellian policies both at home and abroad. ‘The Will to Power’ must be required reading for the Bush team – they’re just darned scary. btw, thanks for checking out my site. – tt
Oh, and now we have the admission by government security officials that there is a program in place to track, detain and “interview” Iraqi-Americans in the country. Who next?
When does the popular revolt begin? And what channel can I watch it on?
