  • I have friends who say they don’t want to know anything about politics. They say their life is unbearable if they try to keep up with the Political Asshole Du Jour. And this is a stance I can understand; there’s much about life I filter out because I just can’t deal.

Still, though. There’s talk of war, and there’s something important to understand about war:

    War Is Not Politics

War is the opposite of politics. What’s the quote..? ‘War is the failure to solve problems like human beings.’ Something like that. War’s the end of creativity.

  • I highly suspect that people who have sentiments like that also suspect that religious leaders have all the answers and are easily brainwashed by television and cry during Kodak commercials.

War is not politics.  No.  It is about lives, living and breathing, and eating and shitting, and laughing and miserable.  PLOP.

  • Yo, I cry during Kodak commercials when I have PMS.  Talk of war raises my motherly hackles (we all react from where our deepest sensitivities are).  I have a terrible time keeping up with the political flavor of themonth–but don’t you fucking threaten my babies with your bombs (and that would be ALL the babies, not just mine in particular).

  • you know the ‘Rock the Vote’ campaign and ‘Pigeons For Voting’ and all that they’re all aimed at people who would lean toward liberalism. you never hear republicans (politicians) urging the populace to vote. they’re a sneaky lot! and this is one of those times that they — especially bush — would rather the public stay uninformed.

bush was in tennessee yesterday, stumping for lamar alexander for our governor, and he said “the president ought to be able to put his people where they ought to be, doing what they ought to do, blah blah blah” — before lambasting democrats in congress for being anti-american and holding him up. he never mentioned “war” or “death” or even “iraq. he was using smarmy party politics maneuvering to get support for war, and he had the gall to by cryptic about it!

no, if we truly are patriots, this is certainly no time to languish in the comfort of our freedoms. we need to get off our easy chair and get out there and have our voices heard!

    kudos!

  • A war that could be averted if we were to follow the examples of Ghandi and MLK Jr.

  • I’m so frightend about what’s to come…

  • If you hear of any anti-war (i.e. peace) rallies in Seattle, please call me. I need to protest this, and I have not found a suitable environment to do so.

  • Good point.  War is also the result of two countries not subscribing to the same politics.

  • Thank you for subbing.
