having raised one, I know first hand how dumb teenagers can act (even when they are not actually stupid), so I can follow that thought train about half of the way there. however, what was done was so fucking far out of line. there is actually very little that can be done to protect teenagers from their own choices, unfortunately. and most of it starts years before they are teenagers, by the time they hit high school, if they’re going to endanger themselves, there isn’t much anyone can do about it.

I don’t know that officer’s past, and it DOES NOT excuse his horrendous behavior ONE BIT, but it makes me wonder what has warped his own mind so much to do this to kids.

Ah, remember the good old days when school was just about reading, writing, and being humiliated by your peers? I guess now that we have anti-bullying campaigns, we have to hire people to humiliate the students.
