well, i was mainly parodying the as usual ungainly syntax of the question. On first read, I thought it was “What to do when you, like,..like someone, and they’re like, “like you?”  I do have more than a few friends here whose gender is unknown, to me at the least, and I find that a fascinating ‘thought-experiment’, revealing any gender-based assumptions I may still have, principally by my inability to invoke them in the situation.
