Second Life: Wait, How Does This Happen?
I've discovered I like dancing to goa trance music. Or at least my avatar does.
Where? Happy Clam Island, of course.
Even though the reality of a DJ spinning for a half-dozen people over the internet is a really wonderful, intimate thing, it's really more about those half-dozen people than the music.
Friends of the Happy Clam include this guy, who I link to because of this project in particular.
And apropos of nothing:

oohh they have Solar Festivals (for instance one is
Winter Solstice Festival
December 22, 2007) and they burn this huge wicker statue...
Does SL do Burning Man?
SL does a thing called Burning Life, which is quite excellent.
So... similar idea? Everyone makes something (no spectators-only), burn stuff, performances, self-expression, large community, art, etc?
oooh so... simulated burns in SL? simulated desert?
Yeah, same basic idea, except it's not open to just anyone building anything anywhere. Instead of a burn, there's a lake of lava. Fire and burning tend not to look very good on SL. If you log in, you can still see some of the builds. They'll be around for a while.
