  • Bass Line Of The Day

    Today’s bass line gets back to the basics. Terry Jackson lays down the groove for Thomas Dolby’s ‘Airhead.’ Not a great video. Just listen.

  • It’s from Thomas Dolby’s ‘Aliens Ate My Buick’ album. Dolby wanted to play in a band, so he put an anonymous ad in the newspaper, and auditioned whoever answered.

    I think there’s a lot to be said for a bassline that just does what it needs to do, with only a little more added on, especially if it’s what the song needs, rather than what the bass player needs. Besides: King Crimson is brain music. This is pelvis music.
