  • On Thursday, I went to a naturopathic chiropractor.

She was fascinated by my medical history, so we spent two hours talking about it. There was a huge crowd of people in the waiting room, too. It was kind of funny.

Finally, she put me on a massage table and, with only minimal warning or preface, started sticking me with needles. I’ve never had acupuncture before, and I’m here to tell you that it works. Whatever it is, it works. I could feel the muscles in my back relax into non-existence. I also felt a bunch of psychic stuff (for lack of a better word), but sometimes talking about that kind of thing is a liability. But still: Those muscles slacked right up.

Nevertheless, my troublesome abdominal muscles were still working against her when she did the adjustments. She said, “You’ve got some really tight muscles there, my friend…” I wanted to say, “Yeah, I told you,” but I was still getting over the adjustments. I might have said something like, “Uhng,” instead.

I’ve felt a lot better lately, too. I noticed almost instantaneous improvement, which has declined gradually and steadily.

I’m set to go back on Tuesday. Hopefully this time she’ll stick needles in the magic places that will make my abdominal muscles go limp as well. Then on Wednesday, I’ll begin the process of sitting in a car driving for three days.

  • I’ve always wanted to try this, since most chiropractors tell me, “you have the tightest back back muscles…” and now I have HomerEvidence.

  • Sounds like one of those wonderful sessions… I’ve never had acupuncture, but when I was pregnant many years ago my hips were hurting to the point where I couldn’t sleep so I went to a chiropractor, who, interestingly, was also pregnant & due about the same time as me. Anyway, she did a deep massage on my hips, and it was amazing, it worked for about a week, could sleep fine, and then would start up again a day or so before my appointment. I heard from a friend who saw her regularly that she had a daughter and gave her the same name I had given my daughter… now what hips have to do with all this, I don’t know. It’s just interesting, or maybe not. Three days straight in a car. That’s bound to be a little binding to the body. Stop & stretch lots & take photos… *hugs

  • Oh man, I’m glad you feel so much better. I got a massage last week and it was heavenly. Every massage therapist tells me that my shoulder muscles are rocks. It took an entire hour-and-a-half session JUST working on my back/shoulders/arms to relieve it.

Accupuncture is hit or miss with me (at least, so far). Sounds like you have a great gal.

  • Driving 3 days? Are you coming to the King of the Red States?
