  • RetroPhoto has lots (that is, lots) of information about the photographic technologies of our ancestors.

I was looking around on eBay at photographic fine prints, and found this lovely piece, and wondered what platinum contact processing was, and now I know, thanks to RetroPhoto.

...which links to Tom Millea's web site of astoundingly beautiful platinum process images.

There's also some pictures of the 20x24 (that's *inches*) camera that Polaroid chose not to put much effort into.

  • I once was married to a photographer who worked in platinum prints, autochromes, salt prints, and various other antique processes. The marriage didn't work, but the phttos were magnificent.

  • I particularly like Tom Millea's "Figures" gallery.

Christ, that Polaroid camera is one huge-ass muther.

  • Yikes! I want that Polaroid. I already own a 1905 EastmanView 9x11 camera, though Wal-Mart just doesn't keep that size glass plates in stock.

  • wow...20x24? imagine the clarity of enlargements!
