  • Finally saw some images of the Falluja… whatever you’re supposed to call it. Massacre? Lynching?

    First an overwhelming feeling of sorrow; a hole in my chest where I’m willing to carry the sins of the world for just a little while at least. Then I sat here and watched my mind race: All kinds of rationalizations for why we’re there, why they hate us, why I should hate them, why we should all hate each other, why the war in Iraq was justified, why the war in Iraq was a bad idea, what kind of black ops this might be, those guys were mercenaries, those Iraqis were heartless… So on and so forth.

    And none of these thoughts cured the ill. They only explained it. And they didn’t really explain it. There’s simply no cure for the ill.
