  • I haven't blogged in a while. I wonder if I can remember how to do it.

I'm watching my old pentium computer install Debian on itself. So far it's the only installer that figured out how to sync with the monitor properly, so color me impressed. It also comes on 7 (!) CDs, which you can download and burn, or you can mix and match your install from CDs and over the network from debian.org or mirrors. It's kinda cool.

My parents left yesterday for home. They went up to Victoria and had a good time without me. They'd never seen salmon spawning, so it was an adventure for them. They were guided around by one of dad's friends from work. Now they're back in TX, telling the tale to their friends.

I really need a new place to stay. The deadline, it doth loom. Especially if I'm going to Texas for Xmas, a decision I haven't made yet.

I don't have anything profound to say right now. In fact, I have very little that's trivial to say, either.

  • I like Debian, mostly because of the APT package management tool.... but my last dance with Linux was with Gentoo... verrrry slick

  • Gentoo is cool, but I have an old, old pentium machine that would take ten years to compile the whole system.

I think I'll rant about my Debian experience in another 'blog. Sigh.

  • That's ok.... there really ought to be a mandatory "Compose rant" step added to the end of the Debian installation manual.

  • They watched the salmon spawning? Isn't that just a little kinky?
